So I had attempted a business.
Invite designs for kids and maybe for everybody eventually.
I happened to help my friend for our mutual friend's baby shower, and we made her baby shower invite together. And the invite was well received by some, specially one of the closest friends, yes, Kylie. My "formal(?)" partner.
Soon after she got the invite, she rang me, and proposed a business plan. She saw the opportunity to create more personal invites for the birthday parties, baby showers, etc here in local. I know it is pretty common in US, but not much so here in New Zealand. Kylie appreciated my skills, and she had a very strong background as a marketing/accounting executive in an advertising agency here. So it made sense. I do like to create things, but I am not good at selling myself, and Kylie had professional background in selling, and also she is so social, she knows everybody in the community.
So we created our business model and started hard, and we worked hard for about 3 weeks(maybe a bit longer), and we realised that we don't really have much demands here in NZ for the "personal" invites. Well, maybe that is my own justification for the fact that the business didn't really take off. It could be for many reasons. But who knows why.
To be honest, that didn't really discourage me much. I wasn't offended or anything. But one thing that I know, it gave me a huge wake up call for the desires to create things. And I am certain that those 3 weeks of practising of my old skills brought me here. The blog.
These are some of the work that I did with Kylie for the 3 weeks.
I have to admit, when I was creating the most of them above while I was in Korea last year, I was very stressed about Torin and his behaviors, but I was excited about doing something other than my every day chores, and it was a pleasant escape from the harsh reality back then.
Among others, tho, this is my favorite. It was for another real close friends' baby shower, so making anything for them meant a lot to me, and the idea came so natural and easy. I felt right away, it was right for them. These awesome couple live by the shore, got married in penguin costumes, cuz they would be like penguins, monogamous for their lives.
